3 What is Concurrent Curricula? 8 “Contract” Registration Purpose Record and track separate enrollment status and academic standing based on the student’s programme of study Issue A person may pursue more than one programme of study at the same time. The study for each programme may not commence simultaneously. Each programme should be able to be billed independently, and with a different per credit hour charge. The student may progress at different rates on each programme. 8

10 Current Issues Enrollment: student status and enrollment status need to be independently recorded for each programme. Registration: Need ability to record how each course applied to each programme. Fee Assessment: Needs to take into account the credit/billing hours associated for each program. Billing: Contracts and Exemptions need to apply to the fee raised for a particular programme. Grade Roll: Needs to respect the application of courses to programmes. Progress and Academic Standing: Data recorded needs to be independent of each program of study. Attributes, Classification, Cohorts and Registration Blocks: Needs to be recorded for each programme. 10

11 Questions What term should be used to describe this concept? How should the contracts affect registration? Do you have the concept of “Learning Communities”? Example: Incoming 1 st time students are put into groups that take the same set of classes that can span different programs. What are the different methods of fee generation? How should contracts affect transcript production? How would you handle holds for contracts? Any other topics to discuss? 11
