CROSS HATCHING Common with pen artists Show value with lines Quantity, thickness and spacing of the lines will affect the brightness of the overall image, and emphasize forms creating the illusion of volume. Use of fine parallel lines drawn closely together, to create the illusion of shade or texture in a drawing.
4
Contour Lines Give shape and volume to your drawing w/ simple lines Great way to begin planning Essentially an outline Relies more on sensation than perception
6
CROSS CONTOUR Drawn across the form. May be horizontal or vertical, or both. Often, in more complex forms, cross-contours will be drawn at varying angles.
7
Smooth Shading Apply continuous tone, varying your pressure gradually to create smooth shading. smoothly-changing colors across the surface Hard and Soft pencils
