21 CREDENTIALING Certification Meeting the requirements of education and/or performance of standards set by an organization The person holding a certification is certified. For example a Certified Nurses Assistant Certification may or may not require extensive schooling 21

22 CREDENTIALING Licensure Government agency authorizes individuals to work in a given occupation. Person must pass a state mandated Board Exam and maintain certain standards. The person holds a license. For Example a Registered Nurse holds a license and must pass a national exam to obtain it 22

23 CREDENTIALING Registration A regulatory body in a given health care area administers examinations and/or maintains a list of qualified personnel. The person is registered. 23
