Discipleship, growth and transformation 1 st March, 2016

Understanding what you have experienced Accepting the grace of Baptism, Confirmation, opening to the continual outpouring of the Holy Spirit The life of God is in our souls may or may not be accompanied by outward manifestations-Physical sensations, emotional overflow, and spiritual experiences God speaks to us in power, in grace.

Growing closer to Jesus Use the basic means to growth in intimacy with God: the Sacraments, prayer, Scripture, study, Church and community, service.

Do not live aimless lives… Set aside time every day for prayer and Scripture reading. decide on a particular time, decide on a particular a place and have some material to start with.

Pray as you can not as you can’t use praying in tongues, read, sing, or chant the psalms, pray over the Scriptural titles for Jesus. Cultivate a vision of God which draws you into prayer.

Use a prayer journal Consider keeping a journal, a set of ‘notes and letters” to God and responses (prophecies) from God. Prayer lists – use your phone.

Part of the Body of Christ We are called to be part of a sacramental, faith-sharing community. Love God - the first commandment – by keeping the Sabbath day holy. We live our membership of the body of Christ by worshipping at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Sundays.. Community is not an optional extra, it is essential to the life of the Spirit.

Love one another as I have loved you A Spirit-filled life includes many ways of sharing what we have found with others through service and evangelization. Every one of us has a mission from God. Have you thought about what your mission is, and how the Holy Spirit will help you to bring it about?

Put out into the deep There will be trials and difficulties. But be not afraid!

Questions for Small Groups Q1: Make a plan for your prayer life, reading and study of scripture, worshipping at Mass, being part of a vibrant small group of Christians. What steps do you need to make to move forward? Q2: What have you experienced during or since being prayed with? What good things has God done for you?
