2. RE 315 Course Objectives Students will gain a working knowledge of the key issues, events, and characters of Christian history. Students will gain a working knowledge of the historical conflicts which influenced the self-definition of the Christian church(es). Students will develop a critical understanding of the inter- relationship between Christian beliefs, Christian institutions, and Christian practices in changing historical contexts. Students will gain a critical awareness of the tensions between the religious and political activities of the institutional church. Students will develop analytical learning skills through the use of primary texts. Students will develop their behavior as self-motivated learners.
