Fans of heavy metal music have created their own subculture in which their not only listen such music they live like heavy-metal songs. It’s proved by attending metal concerts, buying albums, growing their hair, and most recently, by creating metal websites.

But what is a heavy- metal?

Heavy metal is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and the United States. Heavy metal is traditionally characterized by loud distorted guitars, emphatic rhythms, danse bass-and-drum sound, and vigorous vocals.

Heavy metal fans go by a number of different names, including Metalhead, Headbanger, Hessian and Thrasher. These vary with time and regional divisions. In place of typical dancing, metal fans are more likely to mosh or headbang, a movement in which the head is shaken up and down in time with the music.

Relationship with classical music A number of metal musicians cite classical composers as inspiration, classical and metal are rooted in different cultural traditions and practices—classical in the art music tradition, metal in the popular music tradition.
