Algebra 1 Section 7.1 Solve systems of linear equations by graphing Recall: linear equation in 2 variables ax + by = c The solution to a system of equations are the point(s)of intersection of the graphs. The solutions to a system of linear equations are all ordered pairs that are solutions to each equation. Is the ordered pair ( 2,3) a solution to the system: 5x – 2y = 4 3x + 2y = 12

To solve a system of linear equations by graphing 1. Graph each equation 2. Find their intersection Solve the system -x + 2y = 6 x + 4y = 24
3
Solve x + y = 3 -2x + y = -6
4
Solve using a graphics calculator ¾ x – ¼ y = - ½ ¼ x – ¾ y = 3/2
