“REMEMBRANCE” BY EMILY BRONTE British Literature February 17, 2015

WARM UP FOR 2/17/2015  Complete your TP-CASTT for Emily Bronte’s “Remembrance.”  Answer the question in your journal:  How can you see themes of “Remembrance” reflected in Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights?

POETRY ANALYSIS GROUPS  In your groups, you will be assigned a section of the TP-CASTT to share with the class. You have 5 minutes to prepare what you will share out with the class.  As we discuss the poem, you may record notes in your chart. You will turn in your TP- CASTT for a grade.

DR. KENNETH’S DIAGNOSIS In small groups, you will work together to diagnose Catherine’s illness.  Write a diagnosis for Catherine. What is wrong with Catherine? What are her symptoms? What caused her sickness?  What is her treatment? Write her a prescription for how she should heal. Remember she would not have access to all the medicine we have today. Instead her treatment should be something that she can do or eat to get better.

HOMEWORK  Read and annotate chapters 13 and 14 of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.  In chapter 13, we have another layer of narration because we read a letter from Isabella (Edgar Linton’s sister; Heathcliff’s young bride)  In chapter 14, Heathcliff writes his own letter.
