10. QTAC Applications (Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre) If you are a new student are applying for your first degree you will need to apply through QTAC.

11. QTAC Who are they? There is a TAC in each state of Australia The primary role of the TAC is to provide services to the Universities in their respective states. Administers the application and offer processes for participating institutions – QTAC processes up to around 65,000 annually. Allocates tertiary places according to the admission rules of institutions. (For USQ this is Undergraduate Degrees only) Provide a system for students to apply to multiple Universities on the one form or website.

QTAC QTAC has a website that students should use to apply to USQ http://www.qtac.edu.au/http://www.qtac.edu.au/ The website provides the student with a portal for quick access to their application and information. You can also track the progress of your application using the portal. There is a demonstration ABW (Apply By Web) application It is vital that the student provides all the appropriate documentation for assessment. Any results that are gained through QSA will be already at QTAC for the assessment.

14. Preferences Identified issues: 1. Students only placing high entry programs for all preferences 2. Students only placing one or two preferences 3. Ensure that the student is applying for the correct semester 4. Not knowing the pathways available at Universities 5. OP is not the only way to get into University

15. Changing Preferences Why change QTAC preferences? Different OP than expected (Higher or lower) Job situation (traineeship, cadet, etc) Personal reasons (moving towns, career choice, etc) Applicants can change the order of their preferred courses or substitute new courses at any time up to the dates for inclusion in each offer round. (Depending on the individual University rules) Applicants can change their preferences via Current Applicant online services. To access the services, the student will need their QTAC Application Number and PIN. Applicants are able to change their preferences up to 3 times online for free.

16. USQ and QTAC Where does USQ fit into the picture? Provides the instructions for assessing applications Provides advice to QTAC on unusual or complicated applications QTAC will refer any questions to the USQ Recruitment and Admissions team for varification

19. Application Summary Direct entry applicants are primarily for Postgraduate students, pathway program applicants and International applicant. Direct entry applications can be submitted online or paper based. Applications for yr 12 School students and first degrees (Undergraduates) come through QTAC It is vital that if a student feels that they have been missed out or have any questions that they contact QTAC initially and then USQ if they have further questions.
