MOON PHASE PREDICTIONS You have 3 minutes to draw and label the moon phases on your sheet of paper. Observe the position of the Sun and Earth on your paper. This will help to determine phases. NOTE: New Moon is ALWAYS in between the sun and the Earth !!! Waxing : Light on Right ; Waning: Light on Left Phase Names: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full moon, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, Waning Crescent

MOON TIMELINE Label the moon phase timeline in days and weeks as you move counterclockwise on the diagram. Label Weeks: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4 Label Days: Day 7, 14, 21, 28
6
LET’S MAKE PREDICTIONS How many days does it take for a new moon phase to become a third quarter ? How many weeks are there between a Third Quarter and Full Moon? How many days are there between a new moon and a waxing gibbous moon?

SEASONS You have 3 minutes to label the seasons for both diagrams 1. Always start with Northern Hemisphere at East and West Positions. 2. Summer and Winter are at East and West Positions. 3. If Axis is tilted toward the sun, it is summer. If tilted away, it is winter. 4. Move Counterclockwise 5. Axis points toward North Star

ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM List the wavelengths in order from largest to smallest.

WAVELENGTHS AND ENERGY Which EM wave provides us with the most information about distances and objects in space? Which EM wave carries the greatest amount of energy? What is one stage of a high mass star’s life cycle that emits gamma ray waves and x-ray waves ?
