Although/Even though, In spite of/ Despite are all used to show a contrast but there are differences in the structures used with them.

3 Although / Even though Although or Even though are used to combine or link sentences expressing contrast. Let’s see these two sentences: He had a lot of money He didn’t want to buy a new car We can combine them: or When they go in the middle of the sentence, the comma is not normally used. Even though and Although have the same meaning but Even though is slightly stronger, it expresses more emphasis than Although. Although Even though he had a lot of money , he didn’t want to buy a new car. He didn’t want to buy a new car although even though he had a lot of money.

Let’s see more examples: She went to work, even though she was not feeling well. Although she was not feeling very well, she went to work. Although it was raining, we went to the beach. 5 In spite of / Despite In spite of or Despite are used to combine or link ideas expressing contrast. They are not followed by a clause.
