8. Role of an Engineer Provide a solution to a practical problem with real-world constraints Usually works in multiple disciplines –Electrical, mechanical, industrial –Economics, high-volume manufacturing –Must consider component variations

9. Example problem Power supply –Provide 5V +/- 2% to microcontroller from a 12V system (automotive) 12V system voltage has wide variation –Cold-start (6V), max charging (18V) How do we do this? –Voltage divider??
