4 HISTORY -Domestication was 879AD -There was no cross breading

5 BREED CHARACTERISTICS -mature bulls weighing from 2,000 to well over 2,500 pounds and cows weigh from 1,250 to over 2,000 pounds. -They are polled naturally -Only gender deference is the size -There disposition is bulky with a slight in step -Life span is from 18 to 22 years

6 DAILY CARE They are beef cattle so they don’t get washed or anything special unless they are show cattle For best beef results they need high protein food They get the same disease preventing shots as normal Habitat needs to be a field or exercising every day A calf can cost from 100 to 1000 while show cattle can cost from 1000 to 10000

7 ANATOMY There digestive system is as a normal cow, they eat it travels through the stomachs and intestine and then it is discarded Repertory system is normal they breath in air and out o2 with lungs nose and mouth Nervous system is also normal main components being the brain and nerves Skeletal system is normal they have same bone structure as any other cow Circulatory system is also normal with a large heart at the center and veins to carry blood Reproductive system is normal and we all should know how that goes Muscular system is once again normal but there muscles are larger than some cattle

8 PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES There growth is very fast it goes from newborn to calf to almost adult to adult in a year and a quarter Within the last year, a private US firm paid a record $160,000 for a 2,200- pound Charolais bull but most are for around 2000

9 MEAT PRODUCTION These cattle tend to put on better muscle and weight on natural feed vs non natural feed A veil is a young calf that is killed for meat and since these cattle raise large cattle the veil is better than most
