Information Seeking in an Electronic Environment An adaptation of UNESCO’s Empowering Information Professionals: A Training Programme on Information and Communication Technology Module 3

Rationale for UNESCO EIPICT MODULE 3. The format and the mode of access to information resources have changed because of the electronic environment in libraries and the industry brought about by Information Communication Technologies (ICT) Libraries, librarians and users have to cope with the challenge and make use of the advantages brought about by ICTs UNESCO EIPICT MODULE 3.2

We will meet for 4 days Monday, April 28 Tuesday, April 29 Wednesday, April 30 Thursday, May 1

During this time we will address 2 questions: 1.How has Information Communication Technology (ICT) affected the Information–Seeking Behavior of Users? 2.What Principles and Skills are needed in Searching Information Systems?

In our time together you will also: Experience a variety of approaches to learning about the impact of ICTs Be able to decide which of these approaches are appropriate to teaching other public librarians about this topic

This is a workshop You will contribute as much to the content of the workshop as I will!

Guidelines for our work together: We will start on time and end on time We will take a twenty minute tea break about midway through the morning and the afternoon We will break for lunch at 12:00 PM and reconvene at 14:00 PM If you need to leave the room for any reason, please feel free to do so Please turn off your cell phones or switch them to vibrate Ask questions, discuss and participate!
