Imports Total £39bn The value of imports is greater than the value of exports in each of the broad categories of food, feed and drink except ‘Beverages’ which had a trade surplus of £1.27 bn in 2014, largely due to exports of Scotch Whisky..

IMPORT CONTROLS FOR POAO All consignments must be imported through a Border Inspection Post (BIP) Can only come from EU approved establishments in EU approved countries Must have health certificates and residue plans approved by the EU Must undergo 100% documentary checks and ID checks and a % of physical checks prior to release onto the UK market Consignments must be notified in advance by completing Part 1 of the Common Veterinary Entry Document (CVED) via the EU TRACES system

14. IMPORT CONTROLS FOR FNAO Certain high risk FNAO are subject to enhanced official controls on import, these consignments must: Be imported through a Designated Point of Entry (DPE) Undergo 100% documentary checks a % of physical checks (as set out in Annex I of Regulation 669/2009) prior to release onto the UK market Must be notified in advance by completing Part 1 of the Common Entry Document (CED)
