9 © The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., 2003 McGraw-Hill/Irwin The Economic Explanation n In explaining consumer behavior, economists focus on the demand for goods and services. n Demand is the willingness and ability to buy specific quantities of a good at alternative prices in a given time period, ceteris paribus.
