40 Assets

Switch Day is a building wide activity that is done the last Wednesday of each month. All teachers, paras, and our principal has a group of 11-13 students from grades K-5. Each activity is planned to talk about 1 or more assets. ▪ Example of some activity are: Get to know you activities Thanksgiving place mats or place cards Field Day Pick up trash in the neighborhood Game with high school student Assets trees Asset snowflakes

Students are chosen for Student of the Month by their teacher, they receive a certificate and get eat a McDonalds lunch with our Principal. Reasons why a student could be chosen: ▪ Grades ▪ Listening ▪ Behavior

Our Student Council consists of 18 students from grade 3-5, a boy and girl from each classroom and officers are in grades 4 & 5. Student Council promotes and carries out numerous community building activities throughout the year that supports numerous assets. ▪ Food Drive for Food Bank for the Heartland ▪ Habitat for Humanity – Dollars for Doors campaign ▪ Humane Society Drive ▪ Rang Bells for Salvation Army ▪ Making Dinner at Ronald McDonald House ▪ Collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House

Parent and Child Engagement groups. This was done by the Bryan and Disney Counselors as well as Rye and Stacy the Elementary Social Workers. This was put together to boost parent involvement in the school and help parents have awareness of the 40 Assets. This also helps parents to form a positive relationship with the school.

Bryan has a school Bulletin Board done by our counselor Amy Kopanic that promotes different assets. Examples: ▪ Drug Free Week ▪ I am Special ▪ Parent Handouts ▪ No Name Calling Week

Pumpkin Walk – Bryan Pumpkin Walk is in October. About 450 people come to enjoy dinner, games, and “The best pumpkin” voting. Everyone has an opportunity to decorate or crave a pumpkin and put it on display to be put in the contest for the best pumpkin. The Pumpkin walk is organized by Carol Shaw a 5 th grade teacher and most staff volunteer to work or enjoy it with their families. Sock Hop – Bryan’s PTO plans the annual Sock Hop, families come up to school for dinner, games, and a fun dance. A lot of staff members will come with their families or stop by to see the students having a good time.
