The heart beats more than 3 billion times in an average lifetime Cardiovascular Disease- 80 million Americans suffer from this disease ^ Most common are coronary heart disease and stroke Atherosclerosis-the hardening and narrowing of arteries as the result of plaque Plaque can cause irregular heart beats/heart attacks

Irregular heart rates can result in disrupted or stoppage of breathing Cardiac Arrest- Stoppage of the heart altogether

Angina Pectoris-chest pain due to lack of blood flow Oxygen/Blood to heart is drastically reduced=greater chance of a heart attack

Call 9-1-1 Have the person relax Loosen any tight clothing Be prepared for CPR/AED Monitor behavior Question Health History Most people die within 2 hours Act promptly Half of victims wait 2 or more hours Early Treatment-Aspirin

Important Questions to Ask: Are you allergic Stomach Ulcer/Stomach Disease Any Blood thinners Has a doctor ever said to avoid Never delay calling 9-1-1 May be able to help a conscious individual Administer 2 chewable or 1-325mg No Tylenol, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil or Aleve Make sure it is not coated
