Introduction micro-RNA 125b  Involved in different cellular processes :  Targets  p53, Bak-1, Bcl-2, Bcl-w, IL-6R..  Carcinogenesis:  its action can be either as oncogene or tumor suppressor  Regultation of HPV L2  decrease of proliferative infection  Underexpressed in cervical cancer tissues Micro-RNA-125b expression in HPV infection and cervical cancer development EUROGIN 2013

Aims of the study  To characterize the expression of miR-125b in different cervical lesions and cancer;  To evaluate its impact as predictive/prognostic biomarkers of cervical cancer and HPV infection. Micro-RNA-125b expression in HPV infection and cervical cancer development EUROGIN 2013

Materials and Methods Micro-RNA-125b expression in HPV infection and cervical cancer development EUROGIN 2013

Materials and Methods Study Population Exfoliated cervical cells collected from 110 patient : 29 normal HPV negative, 20 normal HPV positive, 28 LSIL, 12 HSIL, 7 CIS 5 ICC Methodology miR-125b expression was determined by qRT-PCR methodology Micro-RNA-125b expression in HPV infection and cervical cancer development EUROGIN 2013

Conclusions miR-125b expression is increased in normal cervix infected by HPV, while the relative expression seems to decrease significantly as lesions progress. These results suggest that miR-125b could be used as useful tool for cervical cancer diagnosis/prognosis using a non-invasive approach, though this observation needs to be complemented with further studies. Cohort study Confirmation the miR-125b expression in tissue samples Micro-RNA-125b expression in HPV infection and cervical cancer development EUROGIN 2013
