3 3 Major achievements (planned)  All scheduled activities (phase I) have been conducted  Effective engagement with policy makers and regulators  Adequate consumers’ participation in grassroots meetings  Good media coverage  Wider dissemination of project findings

4 4 Major achievements (non planned)  Prepared RESA documentary (capturing mainly Rajasthan GIMs) as a effective tool for advocacy and outreach  More GIMs as well as sub-GIMs conducted  Participation in the public hearings & consultation process  Seminars and group discussion on power sector reforms  Improved capacity of partners opened a new window for future assignments and engagement with policy makers

5 5 Networking and outreach  RESA web page: effective communication tool o http://www.cuts-ccier.org/RESA/index.htm http://www.cuts-ccier.org/RESA/index.htm  Regular updations: publications, event reports, media clips  Use of vernacular versions for the better outreach  Networking among various stakeholders such as policy makers, regulators, utilities, CSOs has increased

7 7 Shortcomings Little delays in a few activities No adequate progress on Regional Network on Electricity (especially non-participatory South Asian countries) Given large size of territories, numbers of GIMs was inadequate Policy briefs on part of partners could not be finalized All material available could not be translated from English to local vernacular and vice versa

8 8 WAY FORWARD  Better engagement with local CSOs and consumers  Support utilities for improved complaint redressal mechanism  Improve communication channels with policy makers and regulators  Wider dissemination of project findings
