MISSION To prepare young children for future success through high quality, comprehensive, developmentally and individually appropriate educational experiences in collaboration with family and community.
13
Young children learn through active exploration of their environment in both child-initiated and teacher-selected activities. Families are the primary caregivers and educators of young children. Program staff members and families will work collaboratively to ensure that children are provided optimal learning experiences.
14
The Illinois Early Learning Standards provide the framework for instruction within our program.
15
Concepts and skills related to language arts, math, science, physical growth, health and social/emotional milestones are developed through instructional units that target areas of interest for students. Children will acquire these skills through a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated learning opportunities. Children are taught individually, in small groups, and large groups which promote independence, problem solving, cooperative learning, and self- confidence.
16
Student progress is monitored using the GOLD in the following areas: literacy, language, social- emotional, physical, cognitive, mathematics, social studies, the arts, and science/technology. Each student’s individual progress will be shared with parents at Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday October 21 st and Monday October 26 th. Additional communication about your child’s continued progress will be shared periodically throughout the school year by phone, e-mail update, or in person meetings. Individual IEP goals will be updated 3 times during the school for every child. In addition, an annual IEP meeting will be scheduled for each student during the school year.
