14 Induction Teachers: Observation Expectations Induction Each induction contract year: >1 –Integral Classroom Observation per semester with feedback to be provided within the mid-year and end year consensus conference. Additional informal observation and feedback at the evaluator’s discretion. Induction Year 1: Depending on district procedures, mentors may provide informal observation and formative feedback Additional Induction Years: Mentors at option of district Principal or trained administrative designee Trained Mentor School district employment; number of induction years; contents of the professional development plan

15 Induction Teachers: SLO Expectations Assessment of professional practice using SAFE-T or an SCDE approved formative assessment process If using SAFE-T, the teacher will produce the following artifacts: SLO Template Form A (this will suffice the LRP requirement), Unit Work Sample, Reflection on Instruction and Student Learning, and the Professional Self-Assessment The SLO may serve as the Professional Growth and Development Plan Induction I teachers only: the SLO can be started second interval Results are formative

16 Annual Summative Teachers: Observation Expectations Annual Formal, Summative >1 – Integral Classroom Observation per semester done separately by at least two observers (4 total) (at least one unannounced) with feedback to be provided within the mid-year and end- of-year consensus conference (at a minimum). Additional informal observation and feedback at the evaluator’s discretion. (See separate rules for certified teachers from out-of- state.) Additional Informal or Walk-Through Classroom Observation per semester is encouraged. Principal or trained administration designee Trained Observer School district employment; SC certification; possible highly consequential evaluation; contents of the professional development plan.

17 Annual Summative Teaches: SLO Expectations Assessment of professional practice using SAFE-T or an SCDE approved alternative instrument If using SAFE-T, the teacher will produce the following artifacts: SLO Template Form A (this will suffice the LRP requirement), Unit Work Sample, Reflection on Instruction and Student Learning, and the Professional Self-Assessment Sections I-VIII & Section X of the SLO template will be scored as part of the summative SAFE-T process Section IX of the SLO template (growth targets) will be scored formatively and will not be part of the SAFE-T process The SLO may serve as the Professional Growth and Development Plan

Additional informal observation and feedback at the evaluator’s discretion. (See separate rules for certified teachers from out-of- state.) Informal can include: walkthrough and peer observations. Feedback related to practice can be given at the time of required SLO/GBE conferences. Principal or trained administration designee Trained Observer School district employment; SC certification; possible highly consequential evaluation; contents of the professional development plan.

21 Annual GBE Teachers: SLO Expectations Professional practice may be assessed using an informal observation tool The teacher will complete SLO Form B The SLO can serve as the Professional Growth and Development Plan Results are formative

22 Continuing Contract Teachers in their year of recertification: Observation Expectations Continuing Contract Recertification Year 2017 Informal classroom observation(s) and feedback each semester using the *Informal Observation Form. Feedback to be provided within the mid-year and end-of-year consensus conference at a minimum during recertification year. Principal or trained administration designee Trained observer School district employment; additional, formal evaluation; contents of the professional development plan. Note: If continuing contract teacher is to be formally evaluated for reasons other than a formative review the year of the recertification cycle, they must be notified according to R43- 205.1, Section V (A).

23 Continuing Contract Teachers in their year of recertification: SLO Expectations Professional practice will be assessed using the SCDE Informal Observation Tool, or an SCDE approved alternative The teacher will complete SLO Form B The SLO can serve as the Professional Growth and Development Plan Results are formative

24 Continuing Contract GBE Teachers: Observation Expectations Continuing Contract Informal years Classroom Observation(s) and feedback during informal years of the recertification cycle are encouraged for all educators every semester to provide continuous feedback. Observations can include: walkthrough and peer observations. Feedback related to practice can be given immediately or at time of required SLO/GBE conferences. Principal, trained administration designee, or peer review School district employment; additional, formal evaluation; contents of the professional development plan.
