What is the Nervous System? It is what controls the body.
4
Two systems with in the Nervous System: Central&Peripheral
5
#1 : Central Nervous System The Brain & The Spinal Cord Sends & receives information from the body
6
#2 : Peripheral Nervous System Sends impulses through the body & to the brain Made up of Neurons
8
What is The Brain ? The command center of the body.
9
Can you consciously control what the brain does? YES&NO
10
It can be either VoluntaryOrInvoluntary
11
Voluntary We control consciously. Somatic
12
Involuntary We cannot control consciously. Autonomic
13
The Brain has Three parts The Cerebrum The Cerebellum The Medulla
15
#1 : The Cerebrum The upper hemisphere Controls voluntary movement. Allows touch, seeing, hearing, odors, taste, pain, heat & cold.
18
The Cerebrum has two hemispheres Most actions use both hemispheres Right & Left
19
A : The Right Hemisphere Controls art, music, and emotions
20
B : The Left Hemisphere Controls logic, writing, reading, and problem solving
21
#2 : The Cerebellum Processes information from the body Co-ordinates muscles working together Controls balance
24
#3 : The Medulla Controls involuntary actions Like the pumping of the heart
27
What is the other part of the Central Nervous System? The Spinal Cord
28
The Spinal COrd Sends information from the body to the brain Sends orders from the brain to the body
29
What Protects the Spinal Cord? Vertebrae These are the bones in the spine
