Educational Philosophy Teaching is a very important profession because we are not only touching the lives of the students in which we teach, but we are also touching the lives of the communities in which each of these individual students will live and work in. Students are not the only people who a teacher needs to work side-by-side with. Dealing with parents is also a part of a teacher’s job. We as parents expect from teachers that they will put forth all their effort in helping our child to learn and understand what they are teaching. Parents should be able to feel comfortable that their child is in the care and guidance of someone who wants to help in any way that they can. As parents, it is difficult to turn over our child to someone who we do not trust and know. I would want all the parents to get to know me as a teacher and express their concerns and thoughts about my teaching. I would like to take into consideration all the thoughts and suggestions of parents, and offer any explanation they may need about how I teach my students.

Educational Philosophy We need to have expectations of ourselves when it comes to how we teach. We need to decide what kind of teacher we want to be and what we need to do in order to reach our own goals. I expect myself to put forth great effort in making sure that no child or person is left behind in an education. I want to make sure that the students understand everything that I am teaching them. I want to be able to help my students thrive and grow as individuals. I also want to give as much individual time as I possibly can to students, because I know that a teacher’s individual guidance helped me to grow and become a stronger, better student. Being a teacher, there are many different duties that we have to be responsible and accountable for. First and foremost, a teacher is in a student’s life to provide an education, guidance and support. We are there to teach students, and help them grow into well-rounded, educated adults who can function in today’s society without issues. We have to be good listeners, and we have to be caring. If a teacher does not care how well a student does, sometimes, the student will fall behind, and he may never catch up. We have to be there, and give support and guidance, for all students. With a positive approach to teaching, we will not only be leading students to a better future, but the whole world to a better future. We have to understand and be aware that as a teacher, we are not only affecting the lives of the students that we teach but many other people’s lives as well. Teachers hold the keys to our future and we are all offered the key if we want it.

Classroom Management Plan Classroom management is not only intended to help keep your classroom running in a mannerly order, it is also intended to keep problems and issues from arising in the first place. The management plan is there to help students to be able to learn to their fullest capability, and feel safe and secure in their classroom setting. Establishing that climate for learning is one of the most challenging aspects of teaching, and one of the most difficult skills to master. For those new to the profession, failure to set the right tone will greatly hinder your effectiveness as a teacher (Weimer, 2006).

Classroom Management Plan The way in which a class begins for the year will lead to the student’s and teacher’s expectations of what will follow throughout the year. It will allow students to get to know the teachers and understand the tools of teaching for that particular class. Sometimes, it is a good idea to change things up, but not too much, just enough to make a classroom more exciting and the learning experience new and entertaining as well as educational.

Classroom Management Plan The Student’s Role The role of each student will be different, although similar. Every student is as unique as his or her way of learning is unique. We cannot expect each student to learn the same way as one another. We as the teachers and instructors have to become aware of the way in which each of our unique students learns. The role of our students is help us identify what will help them to learn and meet their academic goals. Reaching their educational goals is also the role of the student. We as teachers can only offer our guidance and support, it is the student’s responsibility to reach his or her own goals.

Classroom Management Plan The Teacher’s Role in Classroom The role of the teacher in any classroom is to help students learn material that they need to learn in order for the students to move forward in their educational goals. We as teachers need to be understanding and willing to help these students meet their goals. Each student learns at different rates and at different levels and we need to be able to work with each individual student in order to help them accomplish their needs toward an academic fulfillment. The teacher is also the person who is in charge of the learning material, so we need to make sure that we are working up to date in the technological world. Teachers need to demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. They also need to be able to collaborate with students, peers, parents and the community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. They also need to communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats. Lastly, they need to model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate and use information resources to support research and learning (ISTE, 2008).

Classroom Management Plan Rules and Expectations Rules and expectations will be given to each student at the beginning of the school year and I will go over them with the entire class so that there are no misunderstandings. Rules and expectations are something that every classroom needs in order to function properly and for people to be able to learn. It does not matter if you are in pre-school, elementary, high school or even college level classrooms. Although we, as teachers have rules and expectations for our classroom, we need to make sure that we go over the rules with all students and let them know what we expect from them and what they can expect from us. In every classroom there needs to be a classroom management plan. The management plan must consist of a complete plan from beginning to end. It needs to start with the arraignment of the classroom before students even set foot in the classroom, and move forward to end of the school year when the goal is to have accomplished all that was meant to be accomplished. Every person involved needs to give their all and be there to help and assist one another when it is needed. It does not only take a teacher and students to conquer a school term, it takes a collection of people who want to make the world a better place to live.

School Models Flipped Classroom In a flipped classroom setting, students have more control over their own learning styles and do much of their work at home, instead of in the classroom. In the classroom, students engage in conversation about the material that they are learning at home. Flipping the classroom allows teachers to have more interaction time with their students. Watching videos at home will allow the students to better understand what they are watching because they can rewind and watch it as many times as they need to in order for them to understand it. Traditional Classrooms Traditional classrooms allow students immediate interaction with their instructors and allows students social interaction that they may not get from online classes. Students may be more focused on their classroom assignments because they do not have the distractions of modern technologies. Private Classrooms Private classrooms tend to be overcrowded because there are not enough teachers for all the students. Many times they have more than 1 grade level that they are teaching at the same time. This can be overwhelming for teachers as well as the students. Also, the cost of private classrooms can be expensive and it is debatable if students actually receive a better education than students in a public school setting.

School Models Online Classrooms One of the best things about online classrooms is that you can create your own schedule and work around every day life task. Another positive to online classrooms is that it is kind of like the flipped classroom because you can watch your videos as many times as you need to in order to understand them, then you have the discussions about the videos and you give your thoughts and take in other student’s thoughts on the issues. Online classrooms are a great way to go if your schedule does not allow time for attending classes in a traditional setting. The cost of an online education is a bit more than the traditional classrooms, which can become an issue for students. Public Classrooms Public classrooms are free to all children and offer an excellent education. Many times, the public classroom can become boring and doesn’t really offer much creativity in the classrooms. Children have to be able to adapt to the learning styles that the teachers use. Unfortunately, many times, the classrooms are over- crowded and a student who struggles may get left behind.

Lesson Planning The goal of education is learning. There have been many different approaches to teaching over the years and many of those approaches have been successful in helping students learn what they need to know. One of the main goals in teaching is to make sure that the instructor is clear on what it is that the students are to be learning over the course. If a student does not fully understand what it is that he or she is supposed to be learning, how are they supposed to learn? A new way for educators to teach is by using the backwards design model of teaching. With this model of teaching, it is called the backwards design because it is basically turning how educators teach using the traditional model, backwards. Students now can do their homework at school, and their classroom work, at home, via the computer and internet.

Lesson Planning Important Elements on Effective Lesson Design Research is one of the main practices that has to be used in lesson planning. Research allows the teacher, and the students to become familiar and aware of all connections to a certain subject. Research is one of the most important components of knowledge and teaching. Students as well as the teacher should not focus only on one source of information as there is a world of information right at our fingertips here in the 21 st century. Ask Questions – Teachers as well as students need to ask questions. Questions can help students, and teachers to get answers to things that they may not know about a subject. If a person has a question, they should always ask because if we do not ask, we may never know. Questions seek knowledge, and knowledge is the goal that we all want to achieve. Lessons must begin with the end in mind and have a clear objective. Teachers need to keep in mind that although there is a beginning that students need to learn, there is also an end and the end needs to be in the course so that there is full understanding of the subject.

Lesson Planning Good Learning Objectives Good learning objectives are critical in planning an effective class instruction because there are many rules that must be followed in order for the class to run smoothly and students to be able to learn all that they need to know. Without these rules being followed by the students, and teachers, the class work will not be performed correctly which will result in the teach and students falling behind on the assignment. There needs to be a Purpose for the course. A clarification of the significance of this lesson and a statement regarding what students will be able to do when they have finished it. Teachers need to question their students for understanding of the material that they are covering in class. If a teacher feels that some of the students may not be understanding the material, they need to find a way to cover it differently so that everyone does begin to understand what they are going over.

Assessment Matters The role of assessment and evaluation in school improvement and measuring educational quality is very important. With the assessments, school officials such as the board of education, principals and teachers alike will have a better understanding of how their school and students learn as well as how well they have been doing over a period of time.

Assessment Matters Assessment plays a major role in how students learn, their motivation to learn and how teachers teach (Manitoba, 2013). Assessment of learning allows teachers to better understand how students are learning and what they are learning. If the teacher better understands the students and what helps them learn better, she can then plan a better guide for her class to follow. Students also need to be more aware of their own learning abilities and what helps them to learn better. Students need to be able to speak up and let the teacher know that they are having a hard time understanding or learning by the way she is teaching her class; this will allow the teacher to find a better way to teach the class so that the students can better understand her.

Assessment Matters We also need to signal to people that we value the different things that will help our schools to be a more thriving school. Reward schools that are doing well and sanction the schools that are not meeting the requirements. The values that I see from both types of assessments are that it both types of assessments do help build a better, stronger classroom. Clarifying, understanding and sharing learning intentions is a great way of helping both the teachers and students to understand and see where they may be misunderstanding some task. Another strategy allows the development of classroom discussions, task and activities that help in the process of learning. Another strategy is to always, provide feedback for students because feedback is what helps students to better the work that they are doing. If a student knows and understands what it is that they are doing wrong, they likely will be able to correct it and stay away from doing the same thing in the future. Allowing students to become more involved in their own learning and decision making will help students to feel more in control of their own education. When teachers form groups between students, they are allowing students to become resources for one another. Every student has a different view and opinion on different subjects and they can offer many different insights.

Conclusion In any kind of classroom setting, it takes a teacher who is dedicated and devoted to teaching his or her students. A teacher does not walk into the classroom unprepared and try to figure out what his or her students will be going over that day, it takes a lot of planning and research for a teacher to be able to tackle the ownership of his or her classroom.
