2 2 Steve Miller Band formed in San Francisco, California Active 1966 – Present Learned jazz and pop techniques from his family’s friend Les Paul (his godfather) In 1965, he moved to Chicago, where he played with Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy and Paul Butterfield Landing in San Francisco in 1966, he fused his blues with psychedelia and released a stream of hits: “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like An Eagle,” “Jet Airliner” and “Jungle Love” After breaking his neck in a car accident in 1971, and going on a two-year hiatus, Miller emerged with a new band and sound (“The Joker,” 1973) By the late 1970s, his music becomes a staple of FM classic rock radio
