10 Be the best you can be GCSE or BTEC? BTEC courses are more hands on, there is a greater emphasis on coursework and less emphasis on exams – although there are exams that must be taken to achieve the qualification. BTEC courses are assessed with Pass, Merit or Distinction. BTEC Level 1 D to G (equivalent) BTEC Level 2A* to C (equivalent)
