3. The Georgian National Academy of Sciences The Georgian National Academy of Sciences was established in 1941. It is a scientific adviser to the Government, is furthering the development of science in Georgia, develops relationship with the academies and scientific centers of other countries, carries on international exchange of scientific literature etc. Presidents of the Academy were N.Muskhelishvili (1941–1972), I.Vekua (1972– 1977), E.Kharadze (1977–1986), A.Tavkhelidze (1986–2005) and T.Gamkrelidze (2005-2013). Since 2013 the President of the Academy is Giorgi Kvesitadze. The Academy has 95 members and is member of the All European Academies (ALLEA) and many other international organizations.
