4. What is poetry? Why is it written? How do we use poetry? YOU WILL BE ASKED to give a definition of what poetry is to you before you leave class today. TO ME, poetry is about choices and reflection.

5. Poetry is about choice and reflection. We choose our words carefully. Fewer words in a poem than in a fiction, nonfiction text. Conserve words and space in a poem Poetry requires reflection. Poetry asks the poet to see the world through new eyes. How you see the world is TOTALLY different than how I see the world. TODAY…we will hear, see and discuss 3 examples.
