4 BEFORE 1 ST DAY - LINE MANAGER/INDUCTION PARTNER/MENTOR  Telephonic contact for arrival details, parking working hours (LM)  Advise current staff of new employee (LM)  Nominate induction partner/mentor (LM)  Prepare Induction File (LM)  Arrange office, computer, furniture, phone connection, stationery (LM)  Arrange welcome tea (LM/IP/M)

5 FIRST DAY – LINE MANAGER/INDUCTION PARTNER/MENTOR  E-mail to HR to confirm assumption of duty (LM)  Welcome and schedule for the day (LM/IP)  Explain employee’s role in general (LM)  Job profile provided (LM)  Introduction (LM/IP/M)  Plan for the week (LM/IP/M)

6 FIRST DAY – LINE MANAGER/INDUCTION PARTNER/MENTOR  Tour (LM/IP/M)  Work practices (lunchbreaks, if sick, if injured, leave application procedure) (LM)  Staff card, parking disc & LAN login (LM)  OH&S and Safety Rep (LM) FIRST DAY – NEW EMPLOYEE  Return all outstanding docs to HR

7 FIRST WEEK – LINE MANAGER/INDUCTION PARTNER/MENTOR  Job profile signed and sent to HR, copies retained (LM)  Performance management agreement (probation) (LM)  Training/development needs – PDP (LM/IP/M)  Short term goals (LM)  Rules, regulations, procedures, ordering, maintenance, etc. (LM/IP/M)

8 FIRST WEEK – LINE MANAGER/INDUCTION PARTNER/MENTOR  Academics – Research Office (IRMA, research awards, research funding), Teaching & Learning Office, Library (LM/M)  Seek feedback (LM/IP/M)  Schedule follow-up meetings (LM/IP/M)  Meeting of relevant School staff/HR (LM)  Hold welcome tea (LM/IP/M)

9 FIRST MONTH – LINE MANAGER/INDUCTION PARTNER/MENTOR  Performance management (PM) discussion (LM)  Finalise PM agreement and PDP (LM & Employee)  Development opportunities (LM)  Attendance of diversity training workshop (LM & Employee)  Seek and provide feedback (LM)

10 FIRST 6 MONTHS – LINE MANAGER  Conduct first performance review (by end September for all)  Provide feedback on performance  Discuss professional development planning  Seek feedback and address any issues  Re-visit development and training needs

11 FIRST YEAR – LINE MANAGER/EMPLOYEE  Formal annual PM assessment (end Mar for all)  Commence new PM agreement  Academics – Teaching Portfolio and Professional Portfolio  Seek feedback
