Sahel 1.What are the names of the two tribes that live in the Sahel? Describe some of the customs for each tribe. Fulani and Dogon are the two tribes in the Sahel. There customs are the love of cattle. A true Fulani displays a “palaaku” a mixture or of these three values, oral literature is one of them. At the age of12 Dogon males can dance in ceremonies like dama. Genealogists, musicians, poets, iron workers and may not participate in these ceremonies.

What they Eat Both Fulani and Dogon eat elephants, giraffes, cattle, sheep, and goats as well as vegetation like the Jujube fruit and Grewia bicolor fruit.

Animals that live in the Sahel. Elephants are gigantic creatures that eat grass and other vegetation. Giraffes also eat grass and other vegetation. Wart hogs eat other small rodents. Senegal Gerbil is the most populated animal in the Sahel.

Vegetation in Sahel The first type of vegetation is the baobab tree; its trunk is 50 feet wide. The next type of vegetation is the Jujube tree; this spiny plant can grow to 66 feet tall. The next plant is the Cram-cram; it is a prickly, short-lived grass. The final plant is the Acacia tree and it has deep root systems are ideal for semi-arid climates, are among the most common trees found in the Sahel.
