Paleo Indians At the end of the Ice Age Climate was colder and wetter Nomads Probably crossed over from Asia No evidence of settlements

Archaic Indians Around 8,000 B.C. Climate was warmer Forests started to sprout up Improved on hunting, fishing, and gathering in new climate Built rock shelters and pithouses out of clay and logs and were partially underground. Began to stay in one place and develop villages and trade.

Woodland Indians About 1,000 B.C. They began to clear fields and farm. They developed the bow and arrow. Built villages along streams where the soil was soft and moist. Developed their own form of pottery. Developed burial and ceremonial mounds.
