Importance of Recruitment It can be a costly exercise for a small business if the wrong person is employed; therefore it is important that steps are taken to employ the right person for the position.

Types of recruitment methods & selection processes The first part of the employment cycle is a job analysis. It allows the business to determine what skills are needed for a position. Employment cycle activities focused on: – Establishing employees – Maintaining employees – Terminating employees Employment Cycle

Maintaining employees in the business It is important that new employees are inducted into the business. This may involve a formal training program or a mentor or buddy system. There are a number of Employment arrangements. These Include: full-time permanent, part-time permanent & casual. Employment arrangements

Legislative requirements an employer must adhere to include: occupational health and safety legislation (OH&S) equal employment opportunity legislation (EEO) Employment arrangements

Separation of employees from the organisation There are two ways an employee can separate from an organisation: voluntary separation by resignation or retirement involuntary separation through dismissal or retrenchment. Employment arrangements
