Reading Assessment After reading a grade level passage students will answer multiple choice questions that describe, compare, contrast, and define key elements. Students will cite facts to support statements. Students will state an opinion about the story and justify the answer with facts from the story.

Reading Levels and Fluency Rates Third grade children typically read fluently 75 to 100 words per minute in the fall and 110 to 160 words per minute in the spring. Third grade child read on Guided Reading levels L through Q.

Helping your Child Read with and to your child every day and discuss what has been read. Keep supplies on hand for written communication – crayons, pencils, paper (Homework Bag or Box) Enjoy purposeful discussions with your child
