REVOLVING USB HUB By Amir Amiri, Zachary Rollman, Joseph Deptula, Emily Branstetter Advised by Junfeng Ma 4/21/2016
2
BACKGROUND INTRODUCTION Goal: to redesign a USB hub mounting bracket for a custom avionics mission system Components Needed: 7 ports Vertical and horizontal mounting Stacked 3 high
3
WHY DO THIS PROJECT? Most relevant to our everyday lives Familiar with topic
4
DESIGN PROCESS: RESEARCHED IDEAS Offers vertical and horizontal connections, but no way to mount or stack. Also no convenient way of stacking, and hard to incorporate more than 4 ports.
5
MORE RESEARCHED IDEAS We used the idea of revolving and connected boxes. The Lego-type design makes it easy to vertically and horizontally mount
6
INNOVATIVE POINTS Lego-type connecting method is crucial, offers easy stacking Rotating ports allows for maximum customization Extra space between stacked blocks allows for connection at any angle from any level of stacked hub Lego design is attractive to younger generations as well

9
STACKED VERSION Can be turned horizontally if needd
10
DIFFICULTIES Determining sizes and measurements How cables connect Best way to stack them and still have access to all ports
11
WHAT WE LEARNED How to create a solution for a real company need How to work as a team and utilize everyone’s strengths Creative problem solving How to incorporate multiple different ideas into one design
