Campaign Achievements £4.5 billion saving in fuel duty to consumers and businesses April 2011 rise of 5p cancelled and replaced with 1p cut The 'escalator' – under which the Government was committed to raising fuel duty by 1p above inflation every year stopped The 3p fuel duty rise planned for January 2012 deferred twice to January 2013 In just 6 weeks we ensured a House of Commons debate that prevented more duty rises 100,000 signatures secured on Govt e-Petition in just 6 weeks Getting the OFT to investigate Oil Pricing mechanisms and alleged price fixing We are slowly getting a gradual seed change inside Government that is beginning to bear fruit. Namely to recognise that by sensibly controlling fuel duty, this tax should be a growth stimulus not just a Treasury cash cow. 2 million unique visitors to website Orchestrating over 130,000 emails being sent to local MPs from FFUK supporters at an average of 200 emails per MP Being the contact group for the main national TV, radio and newspaper media that involves petrol and diesel price issues Being the source of consumer and business fuel prices experiences for the media for their stories and programmes

Campaign Objectives Stop any Fuel Duty Rises – Fight to scrap the January & August 3p deferrals that are now planned for implementation in January 2013 Go even further and fight to Cut Fuel Duty for the benefit of economic growth and what the whole nation wants Convince the Govt to recognise that by sensibly controlling fuel duty, it is a growth stimulus not just a Treasury cash cow Bring UK petrol and diesel to European Parity in terms of fuel pricing and taxation Set up a mechanism that is the fairest way to price petrol and diesel for business, the economy and hard pressed motorists Call for inquiries into fuel pricing transparency and oil price speculation. Join call for inquiries

Campaign Research - FTA We have presented research from the highly respected Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) report Even a modest cut in fuel duty of 2.5 pence per litre – Would create a staggering 175,000 new jobs – Boost GDP by 0.33% – All at no cost to the treasury

Campaign Research - RHA We presented more research from the august National Institute for Economic & Social Research A. The Impact of Raising Fuel Duty by 3p – Destroy 35,000 jobs – Cut growth by 0.1% B. The Impact of Cutting Fuel Duty by 3p – Net increase of 70,000 jobs – Growth boosted by 0.2% – Overall reduction in fiscal position would be £1800M or less than 0.2 per cent of GDP
