Research & Technological Quality (8 pp.) Inter- and multidisciplinary aspects must be illustrated Good account of state-of-the-art ‘Experts’ are interested and informed, but not necessarily specialists; may be specialists in related fields Illustrate it if appropriate Objectives & reasons Explain and justify Methodology and its appropriateness Explain and justify Materials/data and expected results Describe Illustrate it if appropriate Predict where possible Timeliness and relevance to you and Europe Quality of Host ‘Scientist(s)’ As much about him/her as you: include full details, including publications
9
Training (IEF, IOF) (2pp.) Training objectives What new skills and knowledge are you intending to acquire? How is it relevant How will you be trained? Who will train you? Where? Additional training/transferable skills Skills acquired which will help you get a job in or outside academia How will you learn these Mentoring & tutoring You need details from your potential departments Do not depend entirely on University of X’s generic schemes.
10
Knowledge Transfer: IIF and IOF (year 3) (2pp or part thereof ) For the betterment of Europe, European Science and Excellence What knowledge will Europe gain from the Fellow’s presence in or return to Europe? How will knowledge be transferred? K-T activities Use but do not depend on University measures: show initiative at department levels Transfer of knowledge/awareness about Marie Curie actions outside and within Europe European Excellence (again)
11
The Researcher (7 pp.) YOU ! You specified information from your CV Research Results Your main/significant achievements. From PhD to the role you have played in changing government policy on X Independent thinking and leadership What you have organised yourself Match between profile and project Potential What the IxF will help you do in future, career plans Potential to acquire new knowledge Show you are able to learn things during the Fellowship

Your major achievements so far Effects of your research so far: impact Publications Project work, organisational skills etc Expertise of the HI and scientist in charge Why are the HI and Scientist the only place and person/team worth going to? Impact Stress how will your project improve (European) science Outreach: plan to use new and older media
15
Additional tips for the IOF Excellence of outgoing AND return hosts Phases Outgoing: why is it the best place to go? why can’t you do it anywhere in Europe? Return (KT): why it is the best place to return to in the ERA? how will the ERA and European Scientific Community benefit from knowledge gained in the Third Country? academic and industrial benefit?
16
Career Integration Grants You must have been mobile You must have new (<12 months), long- term job here (100k) 25k euros pa will provide research expenses etc Help establish you as leader in the field, via project costs Help you build up your team
17
