She started as a part-time dishwasher. She liked working in the school so much that she applied for a full time job as a cook. She didn’t meet the job requirements, so she signed up for classes at the community college in food service. Merline believed in hard work and doing things the “old fashioned way.” Her staff is extremely loyal to her. Most of the employees have worked at City High for more than 10 years.
