8. 8 Data Structures - EAN/UCC-14 14 Total Digits 1 - Indicator (Packaging Indicator) –If zero then a UCC-12, EAN/UCC-8, EAN/UCC-13 data structure is present (right justified, zero filled left) –digit 1 to 8 indicates a packaging level of the base GTIN (Base GTIN is the UCC-12, EAN/UCC-13 or EAN/UCC-8 of a lower packaging level for the product) –9 indicates a variable measure item 12 = EAN.UCC Company Prefix + Item Reference 1 = Check digit
