Document ready to be approved Document currently under « engineering check » in EDMS (https://edms.cern.ch/document/1228775/1/TAB3 )https://edms.cern.ch/document/1228775/1/TAB3 F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
3
Definition Conventions to be used when attributing names to components of the ELENA layout, i.e. the functional positions (also called slots) of ELENA. Not to be confused with the part identifier of the physical equipment installed in the slot. Based on PS complex in general, LINAC4 in particular F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
4
What is included Machine layout: functional positions of all elements on or along the beam path of ELENA Layout of electrical circuits: circuits with their main constituents, eg power converter(s) and the load Layout of racks and electronics: racks and chassis in the vicinity of ELENA F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
5
Machine layout (1) Syntax: ELENA Zone, Functional Equipment Code, Position Number F. Butin / ELENA collaboration

LNE 50 - 99 LNR 01 -06 LNILNS LNE 00 -49
7
Machine layout: equipment code Functional equipment code: official code in the list of equipment of PS- Complex Some equipment codes must be checked (e - cooler, electrostatic deflectors…) F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
8
Machine layout: Position number Positioning of the layout component within a specific ELENA Zone. First 2 digits : sub-zone within a specific zone Last 2 digits :incremental positioning within the sub-zone, no reference to a metric position. F. Butin / ELENA collaboration

Butin / ELENA collaboration
13
Electrical circuit location Electrical circuit location defined by the four digits of the location of the first element of the load within the circuit. F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
14
Power converters naming Syntax: Equipment Code, Location, powered Electrical Circuit F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
15
Power converters equipment code Official 5-character equipment code representing the power converter type, as declared in the unique list (following the LHC QAP), with : ‘R’ for power converter equipment ‘P’ for power converters F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
16
Power converters location Location shows the building where the power converter is located (AD hall, bdg 193)… Electrical circuit naming is same as before F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
17
Racks layout naming Syntax: Equipment code, sequence number, location Location is the number of the building, followed by a letter (H= AD Hall, C=AD control room, S=service room) F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
18
Control electronics naming Syntax: Equipment code, location, function The location is the one of corresponding rack The function is optional F. Butin / ELENA collaboration
