Noticing is basically the idea that if Learners pay attention to the form and meaning of certain language structures This will contribute to the internalization of the rule.

Step I Explaining and drawing attention to a particular form or structure Ex – I am a teacher. ( Simple Present) If I were a politician…………… (Conditional )

Step II Select or Create a text with regular occurrences of that certain structure

Step III Highlighting or underlining to draw attention to a certain structure.

Step IV Construct a task that requires learners to notice a structure in order to complete it.

Outline of this activity Listening to comprehend Student listen to comprehend a text that has several examples of the target form.

Listening to notice Student listen the same text again but gap filling exercise is given. Target form is missing and students fill it as they hear.

Understand the Grammar point With the help of teacher, the student “DISCOVER” the rule.

Checking Students are given written text with errors and are asked to correct it

Trying it Students produce similar text applying knowledge

Illustration Material needed – Dialogue – for teacher Handouts ; dialogue – cloze, analyze sheet & exercises. – for students

Procedure Read dialogue one of more times. (teacher) Students will listen to comprehend.

Ask comprehension questions a. Where are these people ? b. What do they do for a living? c. Do they think they can do other persons job?

Cloze exercise Give students handout dialogue – cloze. Read again Students listen to notice and fill in the blanks as they hear.

Analyze handouts Understanding the grammar point students will analyze the sample sentence.

Sue – Oh, really, well, I can’t stand kids. If I were a teacher, I think I would go crazy. John – Really ? Well what do you do ? Sue – I am a politician. John – Oh wow! Trying it Applying knowledge use the prompts, make conditional for conversation with a partner. Example – You are the President of USA A – If you were the president of USA What would you do? B – If I were the president of USA, I would get rid of taxes.
