You’re already part of the System and reaching JRPC Tier 1 is a real achievement. JRPC is just one part of a much longer, broader development path for all athletes There are less than 3000 athletes across the whole of England who attend JRPC each year with around 9,000 at JAC and over 12,000 at JDC. Some athletes will go on to play for England and GB as Senior Internationals, however for most this will not be the case The Single System is about developing all players who take part in it to give them the basis for a life- long involvement in the sport THE SINGLE SYSTEM: PLAYER PATHWAY

Players will have educational sessions during the two hour lunch break with the sixth day being 1:1 feedback sessions with their coach. The four key educational topics are: Performance enhancement/injury management Nutrition Performance Lifestyle Anti-doping These sessions have been re-designed to keep the content relevant and engaging for young players They have been written by experts in the field who also have experience of this in an applied, hockey context. There are handouts to go with the sessions which will be sent either electronically/hard copy LUNCHTIME SESSIONS

There are many ways you can support your child throughout the JRPC process Have a chat with the person next to you and think of some of the different ways you can support them? Logistics – travel, kit/equipment, signing forms Finance – cost of JRPC, cost of equipment (especially GKs), sponsorship, local grants Hockey – even if you don’t know anything about hockey! Encouraging the sharing of feedback, fitness work Nutrition – further guidance/ideas following the lunchtime session for players, encourage player responsibility Emotionally – support following hard training days when they didn’t play as well as they may have wanted to, support following selection decisions (whether selected or not) What others did you come up with? Remember – every child is different and may need supporting in different ways. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

Following JRPC Tier 1 training (6 dates throughout the summer) players will be selected, based on their performance throughout the training phase to attend Tier 1 Competition Tier 1 Competition involves match play against 2 other local JRPCs – in our case xxx and xxx JRPCs On consideration of players performance throughout both the training and competition phases, players will be selected to represent the 3 JRPCs at JRPC Tier 2. In our case, players will be training and playing with the xxxx group JRPC Tier 2 alternates between a High Performance Assessment Camp (HiPAC) and Futures Cup for each age group U15 and U17 players will attend HiPAC. U16 and U18 players will attend Futures Cup. NEXT STEPS

NEXT STEPS – TIER 2 ATHLETES

U15/U16 players From the U15 HiPAC and U16 Futures Cup, approx 35 players in each gender will be invited for further assessment for the U16 National Age Group Squad (NAGS) programme. These athletes will have regular, regional training sessions (NAGS Academy) with the U18 group as well as centralised training days, training camps and competition elements. Athletes will be selected for training camps and tournaments based on their commitment to and performance at both NAGS Academy and U16 training days. NEXT STEPS – NATIONAL AGE GROUPS (NAGS)

U17/U18 players From the U17 HiPAC and U18 Futures Cup, a group of approximately 35 per gender will be selected for further assessment for the U18 NAGS programme These athletes will have regular, regional training sessions (NAGS Academy) with the U16 group, as well as training camps and competition elements All of these athletes will be considered for selection for tournaments based on their commitment to and performance at both NAGS Academy and U18 training days NEXT STEPS – NATIONAL AGE GROUPS (NAGS)

U17/U18 players All Tier 2 U17 HiPAC athletes and U18 Futures Cup athletes who qualify for AASE (school year 12) will have the opportunity to complete the AASE programme. This will involve centralised camps and NAGS Academy sessions on a Monday evening with the U16/U18 NAGS athletes. Athletes will engage in 1:1 mentoring from their coach, a nutritionist and a psychologist. They will also have greater sport science support and off-pitch support e.g. career planning/media workshops All educational content will be covered during the centralised camps so not to add to the academic load for athletes. Athletes who are U17 and in school year 11 will be offered a place at the NAGS Academy and have the opportunity to complete the programme the following year if selected for Tier 2. NEXT STEPS - AASE

NAGS Academy sessions will run on Monday evenings from December – June Players who will attend the NAGS Academy are: All U16 and U18 NAGS athletes All AASE athletes All U17 Tier 2 athletes U16 NAGS further assessment athletes not involved in final squad may continue to attend NAGS Academy but will have to attend JAC in order to be nominated to JRPC the following year. If you choose to attend NAGS Academy, your attendance expectations will be the same as all other NAGS Academy athletes. Athletes should aim to attend all NAGS Academy sessions. We understand that there will be sessions that you cannot attend due to school exams/illness however these must be communicated appropriately and as soon as possible. Non-communicated absence will not be tolerated and may jeopardise your position on the programme. NAGS ACADEMY

U16 and U18 NAGS players may attend JAC training if they wish although this is not advised with their training load. They are not eligible for JAC Competition. All U17 Tier 2 players will take part in NAGS Academy. They may attend JAC and are eligible for JAC competition, however their priority must be NAGS Academy (and AASE) and they must be cognisant of their lifestyle balance. Providing these players maintain attendance at NAGS Academy, they will be offered a place at JRPC the following year. U16 athletes who are selected for NAGS Further Assessment but are not involved in the NAGS final squad should attend JAC in order to be eligible for nomination for JRPC the following year. They may also attend NAGS Academy but their priority is with JAC. NAGS ACADEMY AND JAC

Finally, THANK YOU for all that you do to support your child, both with their hockey and outside of this. We know that your commitment to their hockey extends far beyond what we see from club to school to arranging family holidays around hockey! Without your continued hard work, dedication and support, they wouldn’t be able to pursue their dreams THANK YOU!
