Unexpected Sudden Death WHO definition of Sudden Death: – Death within 24 hours of the onset of Symptoms – In forensic medicine: it is usually death within minutes of symptoms or with no symptoms

Cardiovascular system Accounts for most sudden unexpected death Coronary artery disease/Ischemic heart disease – Sudden Cardiac death – Myocardial infarction – Atherosclerosis, Coronary stenosis, severe >75% of the lumen, complicated atheroma, ischemia, infarction, rupture, hemorrhage, perforation, aneurysm, tamponade – Arrhythmia

Brain Ruptured Berry Aneurysm: – Young middle age – Sub arachnoid hemorrhage – Circle of Willis – Single or multiple – Severe headache, neck stiffness, paralysis, loss of consciousness – Death
