Purple Class Mrs Kendall teaches Wed. &Thurs. am – whole day Fri. Mrs Topple teaches whole day Mon. & Tues. and Humanities on Thurs. pm. Mrs Miles teaches PSHE. Mr Segrave teaches PE on Thurs.pm. Teaching assistants: Mrs Miles

English and maths Maths - 5 x per week English - 5 x week broken down into: SPaG reading comprehension extended writing based around a topic or text.

Topics – Mrs Topple Will be taught as a rolling programme over the next 2 years and details will be made available on the website each half term. Autumn first term will be South American and ‘The Mayans’.

Music This term we will be using recorders to continue work on notation and performance from last year. If children have their own recorders, please do bring in if happy to do so.

PE Tuesday – indoor kit – Mrs Topple Thursday –outdoor kit - Mr Segrave Long hair tied back, earrings to be removed or covered with tape. Warm kit and trainers required for outdoor PE. Letter required if child is not able to do PE

Homework English and Maths homework will be set on Fridays and will be collected in on Mondays (preferable) or Tuesdays latest– see homework book. One piece of English (including learning spellings) and one piece of Maths per week. Occasionally, homework for other areas of the curriculum may be set instead as projects. Weekly spellings test on Mondays. Continual learning of times tables and mental maths recall. Reading independently each night. Children are encouraged to discuss the books with you. Talk about character, plot, use of writing style and meaning – share ‘Let’s read!’ Homework will generally be available on our learning platform ‘Starz’ each week.

Incentives House points – Mars, Saturn, Jupiter Star Award – Friday assembly Whole class reward – pebble jar Star of the week Five star nomination –3 children each week entered into the golden book.

Trips and visits Library visit, Cambourne Date TBC National Space Centre Wed. 30 th September, Pantomime Mon. 14 th December 3 day residential Summer term 2016 (Outdoor activities, Team building) Career Convention Summer term 2016

How can you help? Reinforce learning at home Termly overview will be available on the website as well as regular ‘news updates’. Offer to help with trips or special events. Communicate any concerns/problems See us before/after school, send a letter, or call/e- mail the office to arrange a time to meet us.
