HOLIDAY HOMEWORK COMPUTER GENDER INEQUALITY

Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It arises from differences in socially constructed gender roles as well as biologically through chromosomes, brain structure, and hormonal differences.

Equality in responsibility for household chores would be a start, so that women who work outside the home aren't still responsible for the vast majority of the housework. We need to stop giving men a cookie every time they put their own plate in the sink and we need to start expecting them to pull their own weight as far as scrubbing bathroom floors and other heavy- duty cleaning. In addition, women need to stop leaving outdoor jobs to men and need to take responsibility for taking out the trash or cutting the lawn.

Gender discrimination is an ongoing problem in every country and everywhere in our daily life, in every class and level of society. Recently, there has been a debate going on in Turkey about gender discrimination, specifically among politicians and in the media. All over the world, women have historically been disadvantaged. Wage and occupational gender segregation in the Turkish labor market arise from constrained labor market choices for women. Some barriers (like the headscarf ban) to women education, employment and training are responsible for putting women in a disadvantaged place. Cultural and traditional stereotypes among employers and in the society as a whole about gender characteristics for certain jobs play an important role in the persistence of discrimination in Turkey. GENDER DISCRIMINATION

Gender inequality is differentiation between people due to gender. Individual can be either of masculine or feminine gender. Since ages there has been perception towards genders depending on their sexes, strengths, capacity and capability to do a certain task. Inequalities are majorly displayed at commercial workplaces and home. This leads society towards backwardness with orthodox views. Today's youth can help eradicate this by - Offering high level education Social integration Increasing women employment Involving them in active politics and social activities Arranging social protection programs Generating awareness among parents Giving scholarships to girls Spreading awareness against child abuse and violence Stopping sex identification and abortions Social welfare developments by politicians Promoting NGOs to eradicate Gender Inequality Helping them become tech-savvy - See more at: http://www.indianexpress.com/news/-gender-inequality-can-be- reduced-by-giving-equal-opportunities-/978115/#sthash.kMF30kD8.dpuf

Reducing gender disparities may not be an easy task, but it is a feasible and necessary one. With coherent, sensitive and inclusive strategies, the kind of wasteful discrimination that denies women their rights and blights the development potential of whole countries can one day be removed for good. Only by involving the public in the debate will we have a better understanding of the elements that prevent gender equality and the policies that will be able to counter them. The GID Data Base and Wiki gender are two important initiatives in this Endeavour.

THE END Providing a forum to reveal people’s experiences with local customs and laws will have two important effects. First, it will help improve the information that is available on the situation of women around the world; some facts and figures may well feed back into existing databases like the GID. Second, involving people in this mutual learning experience will bring forth local allies such as workers’ unions, business associations and teachers who can help build pressure for change, as well as garnering wider public support and dispelling inevitable fears of change among citizens.
