Have you ever overcome a habit? If so, how’d you do it? Ahaz (Josiah’s great-great grandfather) closed the temple doors before his assassination. Hezekiah (Josiah’s great grandfather) became King and he opened the temple doors again (see 2 Chronicles 29:3-9). Manassah (Josiah’s grandfather) reigns in wickedness; so does his son, Amon (Josiah’s father). They allow the temple to be desecrated and it’s in ruin when Josiah is born… Josiah

2 Kings 22:1-2 At age 18, look how he managed to succeed: 2 Kings 22:3,8-9 2 Kings 22:10-13 2 Kings 22:19-20. Do you know good people that have come from bad environments? “God actively intervenes in some destructive lineages, assigning a valiant spirit to break the chain of destructiveness in such families. Although these children may suffer innocently as victims of violence, neglect, and exploitation, through the grace of God some find the strength to “metabolize” the poison within themselves, refusing to pass it on to future generations. Before them were generations of destructive pain; after them the line flows clear and pure. Their children and children’s children will call them blessed.” (Carlfred Broderick, “I Have a Question,” Ensign, Aug. 1986, 38–39 ) Josiah

“As you strive to live the gospel, you will encourage your friends to do likewise. Set an example of keeping the commandments, participating in Church activities, preparing to serve the Lord throughout your life, and remaining worthy to attend the temple. “Invite your friends of other faiths to your Church meetings and activities. Help them feel welcome and included. Many people have joined the Church through the example and fellowship of their friends. Also make a special effort to reach out to new converts and to those who are less active” (For the Strength of Youth [booklet, 2011], 17). For the Strength of Youth: In what ways have you been blessed because of the righteous choices of others? When have you been able to help someone by setting a good example or by reaching out to him or her?

A meal usually involved a variety of foods and takes a little bit of time and planning to prepare and consume. It is usually healthy. A feast usually involves what amounts to several meals. There is a lot of time spent planning and preparing, and you can’t consume the entire feast in one sitting. Scripture Study
