1. INTERDISCIPLINARY SUMMER SCHOOL IN HEALTH PROMOTION AND ICT

2. Time frame  3 weeks – aprox. 25 lessons of 45 minutes/ per week  Intensive program – runs for 1st. time 1st- 19th August 2011  8 ECTS  Afternoon activities  Study trips & Cultural events  Study methods: blended learning, portfolio  Integrates ICT & health promotion

Summer school  Developed in cooperation with KHL  Teaching staff from UCSJ & KHL  Student and teacher exchange between the 2 partner institutions  UCSJ is the host institution in 2011  Students from other institutions participate on the course (market broadly to parteners etc.)  980 euros for the course fee  Max. 30 students  Course language - English

4. Target group: Interdisciplinary  Health students at BA level for example: Nursing Physiotherapy Nutrition/dieticians Medical Laboratory Technology Occupational therapy Midwifery  Must have completed the 1st year of studies  Possibility of postgraduate participants

5. Pre-course work  We’ll make a platform (blog, wiki for the entire course)for students/ tutors to acces  Before the summer school starts students must make a blog describing themselves, their study and health system they represent, course expectations (multiple choice) etc.  The blog should be linked to the summer school platform for the other students to look at  The blog serves as a portfolio for the entire course and will in the end serve as the method for the final evaluation

6. Intensive program  To ensure the academic demands of the summer school we propose teaching sessions in the begining of the day and group work in the afternoon

7. Afternoon activities  Study activities – f. ex. practical activities  Leisure activities – sport, cultural visits etc., weekend arrangement with health focus  The importance of doing both study activities and more informal activities to improve the learning processes

8. Study trips  To ensure a cultural understanding of the conutry they are presently in we propose studytrips.  Both study related and cultural related trips  MRSA test required in case of hospital studytrips

9. Study methods  Cases as inspiration for academic work  Problem based learning where the students decide on the problem they want to engage in  Both teaching and tutoring

10. Curriculum 3 weeks:  Week 1: Health in welfare states: Photo story  Week 2: Interaction between clients and professionals: the use of interactive media in advising  Week 3: Life condition, lifestyle and health behaviour: mobil learning

11. Week 1: Health in welfare states  Epidemiology  Health problems – chronic disease management, and goals/ demographic changes – ageing population, multi-cultural population etc.  Interdisciplinary  Why ICT? Flexibility, ecomomics etc.  Photo story

Week 2: Interaction between clients and professionals: the use of interactive media in advising  Ethical issues/ legal issues  Communication  Patient education/ group processes/  Motivation  Technological issues – what is appropriate for which group/ interdisciplinary counseling  Video counseling as product

13. Week 3: Life condition, lifestyle and health behaviour: mobile learning  Health promotion contra prevention  Gender differences/Age differences/cultural differences and attitudes to health & ICT  Marginalised groups/ Inequality in health  Empowerment

14. ICT  The use of iCT in health promotion  The students will have teaching in the use of ICT tools – we’ll suggest the tools.  Each week they’ll have to integrate a new one in their group work which will be uploaded on their blog and in the end be a part of their port folio exam

Ideas  Post-BA or ECTS for diploma degree  Practical tasks part of the learning process  Teachers on one week of Erasmus exchange  Each week has a theme and a teaching team  Student groups change from week to week  Opportunity for involvement of office management students in the course organisation (KHL)  Promotion at KHL mini week (AKR & HKE)
