EWRI Standards Development Council Atmospheric Water Management Purpose: To develop standards for atmospheric water management in the areas of precipitation enhancement, fog dispersal, and hail suppression for adoption by states and provinces for regulatory purposes. Current Projects: Published ASCE/EWRI 39-15 & ANSI/ASCE/ EWRI 44-13. Revising 42-04, co-editors are finalizing MOP #81. Typically Meets with WMA groups: TBD Contact: Tom DeFelice, clddoc1@gmail.com The purpose of the Standards Development Council is to coordinate all activities of EWRI related to the establishment, use, or discontinuance of standards or other regulatory tools in the area of water and the environment. The Council has nine standards committees that could be holding meetings during FY 2015. The Council invites you to attend the committee meetings or contact the chairperson to learn more about how you can take part in these committees. Several of the committees are actively seeking new members, so now is the time to become a part of this exciting segment of the EWRI organization! Border International Water Quality Purpose: To develop international border water quality control standards. Current Project: Revising ASCE/EWRI Standard 33-09, along with a version in Spanish. Meeting at next Congress: 2015 in Austin Contact: Chair Steve Niemeyer, Eaton is Corresponding Editor, steve.niemeyer@tceq.texas.gov Managed Aquifer Recharge Purpose: To develop standards and guidelines, and organize international symposia and training sessions, for managing aquifer recharge to protect aquifers from overdraft and land subsidence, improve water supplies, and prevent or remediate aquifer contamination.. Current Project: Land Subsidence Guidelines (Galloway-Corr. Ed). Working on MAR guide (McGrane-Corr. Ed.). Meeting: EWRI 2015 Congress Contact: Ben Willardson, benningtonj@yahoo.com Management Practice for the Control of Erosion and Sediment Purpose: To develop standard guidelines and/or standard of practice document(s) for the design, construction, rehabilitation, installation, or operation & maintenance of erosion control systems or best management practices of sediment control. Current Projects: Guidelines for MPCES, including Regulatory Tools. Could be resolving 7th ballot in April 2015. Meeting: TBD as needed Contact: cgkeyesjr@q.com Oxygen Transfer Purpose: To develop standards and guidelines for determining the transfer of oxygen in clean and process wastewaters and to develop guidance for the quality assurance of oxygen transfer devices. Current Projects: Revising ASCE/EWRI 2-06 and 18-96 with two Corresponding Editors. Only Teleconferences as needed. Contact: James Marx Urban Drainage Purpose: To develop pre-standard documents (committee reports or manuals of professional practice), non-mandatory standard guidelines, and/or standards for the design, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of urban and/or rural subsurface and surface drainage. Current Project: Drafting Design of Stormwater Impoundments guidelines, printed ANSI/ASCE/EWRI 12-14, revising 45-47. Meeting: EWRI 2015 Congress in Austin, Graber is Corres. Ed. Contact: Kathlie Jeng-Bulloch, Kathlie.Bulloch@cityofhouston.net Water Infrastructure Security Enhancements (WISE) Purpose: To develop standard guides and/or standard practice documents for the integration of risk reduction measures, due to malevolent events, into the design, construction, rehabilitation, installation, and/or operation & maintenance of water infrastructure projects. Current Projects: Guidelines for physical security of water & wastewater/stormwater utilities are available as ANSI/ASCE /EWRI 56 & 57-11 with Supplement 1 approved. WISE training materials provided for utilities, municipalities, design engineers, and utility operators are available under WISE at www.asce.org as are the ASCE/AWWA/WEF Aug/Sept 2008 workshops, and security enhancements guidance material are also available in the WISE standards committee and Stds Dev Council eRooms. Rights Model Code (2nd ballot), printed Shared Use of Transbdy Water Resources Guidelines, ASCE 60, completed; Regulated Riparian Model Water Code, under review Meeting: TBD Contact: Joseph Dellapenna, dellapen@law.villanova.edu Fitting of Hydraulic Conductivity with Statistical Spatial Estimation (KSTAT) Purpose: To develop standards for the estimation of hydraulic conductivity and the statistical modeling of aquifer properties. Current Projects: ASCE webinar in 2015 on landslide hazards; new standard on Ksat of cohesive soils in progress.
