CACI Proprietary Information | Date 2 2 1. Introduction The PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 and FPDS Engine v3.5 Database Upgrade installer includes the following components: PD² v4.2 Increment 2 Service Release 13 Database Updates FPDS Engine v3.5 Database Updates For more information about this release, refer to the PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 Release Notes and FPDS Engine v3.5 Release Notes. This document is designed to guide sites through the upgrade process to a PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 and FPDS Engine v3.5 database. The installer is a wizard-based application designed to apply updates to an existing PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR11 and FPDS Engine v3.3 database. The existing PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR11 database can be at any SR11 patch level (e.g., SR11, or SR11a) and the FPDS Engine can be at any v3.3 patch level (e.g., 3.3, 3.3a). The Installation Wizard detects the currently installed version and then displays a message informing you whether to continue or stop. The Installation Wizard will apply missing interim patches as part of the upgrade process.

CACI Proprietary Information | Date 3 3 2. Pre-Upgrade Instructions Prior to running any database upgrade, the following should be verified: Sites should verify that the Standard Data in the database is at version 0910a or later prior to the SR13 upgrade. If the current Standard Data version in the database is earlier than 0910a, apply the appropriate Standard Data updates until version 0910a or later is reached before continuing the SR13 database upgrade process. Sites should verify that there is enough free space for the database upgrade to complete successfully.
4
CACI Proprietary Information | Date 4 4 2. Pre-Upgrade Instructions Prior to running any database upgrade, the following should be verified: CACI recommends having at least 30% of the database space available prior to the upgrade. Sites should verify their environment against the SPS Database Installer Configurations in the PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 Hardware Software Specifications document to ensure the environment meets the specifications. Sites should verify that the target database server is running Sybase ASE 15.0.3 ESD#4.
5
CACI Proprietary Information | Date 5 5 2. Pre-Upgrade Instructions Prior to running any database upgrade, the following should be verified: If the SSH Tectia solution is implemented, sites should verify that the target database server host has the SSH Tectia Server software installed and configured. In order to run the PD² database upgrade, the workstation from which the upgrade is being performed must have Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 installed. One of the following conditions will satisfy this requirement: −The PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 Client Upgrade had been performed on this workstation; −Install Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 on this workstation as described in the Sybase Open Client 15.5 ESD#6 Installation Guide for PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13.

CACI Proprietary Information | Date 6 6 2. Pre-Upgrade Instructions Prior to running any database upgrade, the following should be verified: The database upgrade installer relies on certain Microsoft libraries to function. To verify the existence of required Microsoft libraries: −Open a command prompt window prompt as the Administrator. Refer to Appendix A: Start a Command Prompt as an Administrator for detailed instructions. −At the command prompt, execute: %SYBASE%\OCS-15_0\ bin\instjava.exe -v −Confirm that the installjava version is displayed. installjava/15.5/EBF 18157 SMP ESD#2/P/NT (IX86)/Windows 2003/asear155/2514/32-bit/OPT/Wed Aug 25 05:45:22 2010 −If “The system cannot execute the specified program” is displayed, the machine does not meet the SPS Database Installer Configurations requirement in the PD² v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 Hardware Software Specifications document and the user must install the “Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package” before proceeding.

Upgrading the PD² Database 3.1 Performing the PD² Database Upgrade for v4.2 Increment 2 SR13 and FPDS Engine v3.5 3.1.2 Setting Database Properties −From the Options tab, ensure that: −The select into/bulk copy/pllsort and allow nulls by default check boxes are selected. −The read only option is cleared. Otherwise, the installer will fail to upgrade the database properly. −The trunc log on chkpt option should be selected to reduce the chance of transaction log overflow during the upgrade. −A knowledgeable database administrator may choose not to enable the trunc log on chkpt option due to the site’s administration routine, but the administrator must monitor the transaction log throughout the upgrade process and perform necessary administration steps to clear or expand the database transaction log. −Make any necessary changes and click the [Apply] button.
