HOW TO MAKE AN Spring 2012 Origami Balloon By: SondraVojvodich
2
Supplies needed: Flat surface to fold on Flat surface to fold on Piece of paper Piece of paper ( 8.5” x 11” or bigger ) THIS WILL BE YOUR END RESULT
3
Take the corner of the short end of the paper and fold it to the long end until the edges are flush. Crease the fold. Unfold it and re-peat the process with the other corner. Cut off the rectangular piece of paper that is below the folded diagonals. (Figure 1) STEP 1 : MAKE YOUR PAPER SQUARE Figure 1
4
Fold the piece of paper in half one time and crease. (Figure 2) STEP 2: FOLD THE SQUARE Figure 2
5
STEP 3: FOLD THE SQUARE INTO A TRIANGLE Holding the top corners and the bottom corners of the paper with each hand, bend in the side triangles with your fingers until it folds into a triangle. (Figure 3) Figure 3 Crease the folds to make it flat. (Figure 4) Figure 4
6
STEP 4: FOLD UP THE EDGES ON THE TRIANGLE With the loose edges facing down, fold each base corner’s top layer up to the point and crease. (Figure 5) Figure 5
7
Figure 7 Now, flip the triangle over and repeat the procedure. Figure 7

STEP 5: FOLD THE EDGES OF THE DIAMOND With the loose edges at the top of the diamond, fold in the top layers of the left and right diamond points to the center and crease. Flip the diamond over and repeat. Your structure should look like Figure 8. Figure 8
9
STEP 6: FOLD THE LAST FLAPS With the loose edges still at the top point, fold down the left side’s top layer towards the already folded in edge of the diamond. Fit this piece all the way inside the “pocket” of that already folded piece and crease. (Figure 9) Repeat the process for the right side’s top layer. Flip the structure over and repeat for the other two loose pieces at the top point. Figure 9

STEP 7: INFLATE Find the pointed end where there is a little opening. This is where you will blow into the balloon. Before trying to inflate, slightly separate the top and bottom layers to make it easier to blow into. Carefully blow into the opening until your balloon inflates like the one in Figure 10 Figure 10
