Biotic Factors Producers- Algae, seaweed, plankton, zooplankton Herbivores-King Salmon, white fish, Peaceful Fish Carnivores-Arctic Fox, Sea Lion Omnivores- Polar Bear Decomposers- Wild Mushrooms

Food Pyramid

Mushrooms the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source Mushrooms are decomposers

Arctic Fox The arctic fox is an animal that can survive Arctic temperatures as low as –58°F in the treeless lands where it makes its home. Arctic foxes live in burrows, and in a blizzard they may tunnel into the snow to create shelter They hunt rodents, birds, and even fish. Head and body, 18 to 26.75 inches in tail, up to 13.75 inches

Algae Algae are a very large and diverse group of simple organisms Ranging from unicellular to multicellular forms such as the giant kelp They may grow up to 50 meters in length Since they are producers, they make their own food through photosynthesis

Seaweed Seaweed is a marine algae The term includes some members of the red, brown and green algae. Seaweeds can also be classified by use. As with other algae, seaweed are not plants. They make their own food through process of photosynthesis.

Plankton live in the water column and are incapable of swimming against a current They provide a crucial amount of food to large aquatic organisms such as fish and whales

Zooplankton Plankton are organisms drifting in oceans, seas, and bodies of fresh water The word "zooplankton" is from the Greek zoon meaning "animal", and planktos meaning "wanderer" or "drifter Individual zooplankton are usually too small to be seen with the naked eye, but some, such as jellyfish, are large

King salmon 10-15 lbs, up to 135 lbs Chinook salmon are the largest of the Pacific salmon, with some individuals growing to more than 100 pounds. These huge fish are rare, as most mature chinook are under 50 pounds. Insects, amphipods, and other crustaceans while young, and mainly fish as adults

Sea Lion they have a thick layer of blubber to keep them warm in the chilly ocean. They like to eat fish—lots of fish! Females are 4 to 9 feet long Males are 6.5 to 11 feet Females live up to 3 to 8 years Males live up to 6 to 10 years

White fish White fish live on or near the seafloor, and can be contrasted with other fish which live in the water column away from the seafloor They eat bottom-dwelling animals, snail, larvae, and fingernail clams which they will consume for the remainder of their lives. They weigh only 4 pounds. They can grow to 31 inches and commonly reach 20 inches

Rainbow Trout They grow up to 20 to 30 in They weigh up to 8 lbs Rainbow trout survive on insects, crustaceans, and small fish.

Polar Bear Scientific name: Ursus maritimus Rank: Species Mass: 150 – 250 kg (Adult, Female), 350 – 700 kg (Adult, Male), 450 kg on average (in the Beaufort Sea, Adult, Male) Height: 122 – 160 cm (At Shoulder, Adult), 133 cm on average (At Shoulder, Adult, Male) Speed: 10 km/h (Swimming, Adult), 5.6 km/h on average (Walk, Adult) Length: 180 – 240 cm (Female, Adult), 240 – 300 cm (Male, Adult)
